Common questions

Where is my mail actually stored?

On our own servers in the EU. Your data stays under EU privacy law and never leaves the region, so you're fully sovereign over where it lives.

Do I need to move my whole domain to Amelu?

Not at all. You just point your domain's MX records at Amelu. Everything else, your website, any other services, stays exactly where it already lives.

How many mailboxes can I create?

The Free plan gives you 1 domain and 3 mailboxes to get a feel for things. Go and Pro open that up to 25 or 100 domains, with room for 200 or 1000 mailboxes on each.

Can I use my own email client?

Yes, whichever one you already like. Amelu speaks standard IMAP, SMTP and POP3, so Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird or anything else just works.

Is my mail hosted on AWS or Google Cloud?

No. We run our own mail infrastructure ourselves. Your mail never gets handed off to a big-tech cloud inbox provider behind the scenes.

Do you charge extra for spam filtering or forwarding?

No, both are just part of every plan, Free included. There's nothing extra to switch on or pay for.

Do I need a credit card to try Amelu?

Nope. Start on the Free plan with nothing but an email address, and add a card only if you decide to upgrade.
